Wimal Weerawansha's list of vehicles!

Former Minister Wimal Weerawansha and Deputy General Manager of the State Engineering Corporation Samantha Lokuhennadige were remanded till next 24th under the offences of misappropriation of vehicles. This is usually considered as something that is not welcome by any Minister as such. However, it is revealed from the list of vehicles stated in the 'B' Report relevant to the case that to the extent to which Wimal Weeravansha has squandered 900,000 lakhs by mishandling and using 90 vehicles go to prove that he is second to none. During the past regime it has been revealed that the 'Sinhala Ravaya' Organisation which put up an act of displaying to the public that they opposed certain actions of the government had in the
process was an organisation which operated by using 6 vehicles of Wimal. 

In the same way it is something special to note that he had been grateful enough to bestow vehicles to writers who were good enough to have his interviews published in leading newspapers. A person surveying the list of vehicles it is absolutely clear as to how he had treated his political Party as well as his kith and kin by bestowing vehicles with utter affection. After giving these vehicles to the State Engineering Corporation on a basis of hire and had been directed to Engineering sites, though he had requested the vehicles from the engineering sites saying that they were necessary, the said vehicles had not been given to them and instead directed for misappropriation, the police have explained. On the other hand he had handed over the vehicles to his close relatives by saying that those vehicles were attached to the Janasevana Project of the Minister. Vehicle No. GO 4894 (1) given over to Ridma Vimukthi Weeravansha (Project Officer of Ocean View Institution), the younger son of Wimal Weeravansha's elder sister Sumanawathi Weeravansha; vehicle nos. GK 5073 (2), KD 4049 (3), KB 7053 (4), KW 6956 (5), GK 5073 (6), KP 4802 (7) to the elder son Lalith Pushpakumara (Deputy Manager of the Ministry); vehicle nos. KB 6038 (8), HQ 4974 (9), GR 5774 (10), KI 4648 (11), KA 7440 (12) to the husband of Wimal Weeravansha's wife's elder sister Thanuja Nishanthi, Bombuwela Disawage Ananda Ashoka Kumara (Chief Security of Ports Authority); vehicle no. JN 8058 (13) to Wimal Weeravansha's younger sister Nilani Weeravansha and vehicle no. GY 4635 (14) to her husband Palleperuma Gamage Ananda Priyadarshana (Deputy Manager of the corporation).

The police in this instance revealed that the said relatives had made use of the vehicles for the above-mentioned ranks without having the legal authority to use the vehicles. Wimal's younger sister Nilani Weeravansha has not assumed any position in any State establishment but she too was the recipient of a State vehicle.
