President reverses helicopter journey while on the way because of sudden change
President Maithripala Sirisena who was to attend the opening ceremony of the Mulyawela Vidyananda Vidyalaya laboratory building and also for the presentation of deeds to people who were displaced from the war has had to unanticipatedly return to his office, it was reported. The reason for this as announced by the
Presidential Secretariat was that the cause was inclement weather.
Though the President has set off from Colombo approximately at 8.30 in the morning to Mullaitivu across Kurunegala, the skies had been overcast because of the rough weather that prevailed accompanied by heavy rain and the helicopter was turned back at Kurunegala. Later, though an attempt was taken to proceed to Mullaitivu across Embilipitiya, even that environment there was enveloped with an unsuitable atmosphere accompanied by torrential rainy weather. Because of this situation the pilots have sounded a warning note and had thus reversed the sojourn and instead proceeded to Colombo. Some Astrological forecasts have been released and circulated these days to the effect that the President should be cautious about accidents.
