Pooja speaks for the first time after marriage
Film actress Pooja Umashanker about whom reports were published to the effect that she had gone overseas after getting married on the sly had spoken about it for the first time. Whatever it is, she has not divulged much information about the husband whom she married. Following is how she responded to the questions asked from her:
* Pooja ... why did you get married on the sly?
Not in secret ... by signing at the registrar's.
Got married after informing families on both sides, telling everybody.
Got married after informing families on both sides, telling everybody.
* According to the popularity you have ... couldn't you have held a wedding that rocked the country?
Whatever grand style the wedding is taken in ... finally it's I and my husband who lives no. I don't like to waste money for show off. If there's money in excess ... I'd like to give that money for charity-work.
* Do you engage in such activities?
That's my pastime. Those days I distributed clothes to those who were left destitute in Aranayaka. Now I am helping a project in which a 100 houses are built for them.
* Aren't you an Indian actress? Did you marry also from there?
I am not an Indian actress. I am a girl from Sri Lanka. My mother is a Sinhala Buddhist. I was born in Colombo. I married also a boy from Sri Lanka. I am living also in Sri Lanka. I speak both Sinhala and Tamil well. Because my father is an Indian national, I studied in India. That's all. Now I am one of the best girls in Sri Lanka. Earlier dubbing was done for me in films. But in the film Sarigama ... the voice was my own. I have now got over the Sinhala pronunciation problem I had.
* Husband has imposed a taboo on you for acting ... hasn't he?
No, there's no opposition from husband. There's co-operation from him. But hereafter I will be a little selective when deciding to act. For now of course ... I am newly married no. I need a small break. I am not familiar with married life no. I need a short time to settle down. After that, I'll once again be going into my Field.
