Threats to Jayampathy that whole family would be killed if the new constitution is made

The chairmen of new constitution compiling management committee is the UNP's Member of Parliament Jayampathy Wickremaratne.It is reported that threats have been  on the 06th instant via telephone that if he does not leave from this activity the whole family would be killed.The telephone call has been obviously from an unidentified person.

Member of Parliament Dr Jayampathy Wickremaratne had said this as a privilege question in parliament saying"

" Certain person on the 06th instant had called via the telephone had had emphasized on the duties of

his as the Chairman of the new constitution compiling management committee  had threatened and scolded him him in filth.It was said that if he do not leave out of this activity his entire family would be killed. In this regard he had complained to the Welikada police.He had made a request from the parliament also to conduct an investigation.

He had said a  cowardly person who has difference of opinion has given the call who is afraid of facing us. For a person who had matured in politics after commencing a journey from Lanka Samasamaja Party political environment no one could make him afraid.This has been made for national benefit this endeavour would not stop in the light of these threats from coward".

It is learnt from the deputy speaker Thilanga Sumapthipala that Inspector General of Police has already commenced investigations into this matter.
