CCTV camera system to be installed in the vicinity of Sigiriya rock fortress

The Minister of Education Akila Viraj Kariyawasam had quipped in the parliament on the 07th instant that a  concealed camera television system (CCTV) would be erected in the vicinity of the Sigiriya rock fortress.

The Minister had added that this new CCTV system would be fixed in the area of archaeology

interest.Work in this regard has already begun according to the Minister.

The Minister had said this answering to a question raised by the United National Party Member of Parliament Buddhika Pathirana/Adding further the Minister had quipped that this would stop those tourists who attempt to enter to climb the Sigiriya rock fortress  without valid tickets and also to find out what the irregular activities and to prevent these irregular activities that are rampant in this vicinity.

Adding further to questions posed by Buddhika Pathirana Minister Akila Viraj Kariayawasam had said that is proposed to make the entrance ticket  an electronic ticket.
