How Tamils show respect to the Sinhalese who died in Chavakachcheri tragedy

The whole of Horana Millaniya hamlet became a centre of mourning because of the tragic road accident in Chavakachcheri, Jaffna which grabbed the lives of 7 people. All those who gave their lives at this accident were Sinhala Buddhists and they were on their way on a pilgrimage to Nagadeepa when they faced this mishap.

How public operations were carried out to save the wounded and to extricate the dead bodies at the
time of the accident without any discrimination of caste and creed and how the victims were carried on the shoulders to be admitted to the hospital by the Tamils was reported by the media. In the same way what is depicted by these photographs is the wonderful streak of humanity which is portrayed in relation to the deceased Sinhalese nationals who died from this Chavakachcheri Sankathana tragedy and the Tamil nationals of Sankathana area are seen paying their final rights in the form of respect by lighting candles at the very location where the accident took place.
