Agitation in Fort Railway Station last night of bomb scare!

A commotion had resulted as a consequence of a rumour that circulated that a parcel containing a bomb had been deposited in the mail train which was scheduled to leave for Badulla from Fort last night. This rumour had initially spread around because of an anonymous telephone call that was
given to police that there is a bomb in this train. 

The Police Special Task Force Bomb Disposal Team had taken steps to evacuate all passengers from the railway premises and had conducted an investigation and after about an hour announced that there is no bomb that could be located. Whatever it is, on the request of railway department authorities the train under suspicion was removed outside from the locality and was halted somewhere between Fort and Maradana and was subjected to another checking up process and even then nothing harmful could be detected. Because of this bogus rumour there had been a delay in the train for about two and a half hours.
