White turtle alleged to have been stolen by Amal Perera ... to be exhumed
A rumour circulated during a certain period that popular singer Amal Perera was connected to an incident in which a white turtle was stolen from a place in Kosgoda where turtles are reared and it was in the year 2013. Under this situation he even had to respond in this regard to the media. As time passed by however it was reported that the owner of the said turtle had concealed the turtle.
However, it was by chance that it was revealed recently that this turtle robbery has actually been
physically carried out and that the robbery had been directed by a Commodore named Ajith Boyagoda who had been previously taken into custody by the Tigers and after being a hostage for several years and later being released from captivity had retired from service. He had committed this offence with the connivance of 3 underground elements. After 4 suspects including 'Army Sampath' were arrested in relation to the looting of gold jewellery amounting to Rs. 3 1/2 crores and when 2 suspects having links with 2 instances of murder in Boralesgomuwa were questioned, this mysterious incident had surfaced. This robbery which involved Ajith Boyagoda and the 3 underground suspects was according to the promise of the person who stole the white turtle to the tune of Rs. 60,000, it was revealed. The referred to suspects have already been taken into custody by the Police Crime Division and after being produced before Balapitiya Magistrate have been remanded till the 2nd of next month.
Suspect Boyagoda after having retired from service had launched a large scale business of marketing ornamental fish and it has been revealed at police investigations that he had entered into an agreement with a group of businessmen in Maldive Islands to sell this white turtle for a sum of Rs. 100 million. After interrogating these suspects it had been confirmed that this white turtle which was supposed to have disappeared, had actually been killed. After the suspects exposed that the white turtle was killed and buried at a spot in Pihimbiya area in Dikwella, parts of the body of the white turtle were recovered yesterday (29) lying inside an abandoned well. The exhumation was carried out with the mediation of officers of the Crime Division and officers of the Wild Life Department.
By now it has been already revealed that a certain provincial council member of Dikwella too is connected to this robbery and in the process of investigations being conducted, another suspect had been apprehended yesterday.
