Rajanganaya girl who exploits men by advertising in newspapers searching for pen pals
A 26 year old girl had inserted advertisements in newspapers saying that she invites a pen pal comradeship to dispel her loneliness as she is spending her time all alone. She had in this process made connections with a 51 year old man and induced him to maintain sexual relationships with her and in the meantime had duped him and looted his jewellery and cash; but was
finally cornered by the police.
This girl Nadeesha Jeewamani aged 26 years is a resident of 17 Yaya Rajanganaya and is a married person. She had acted out this racket as an unmarried woman on instructions of her husband Kelum Vajira Dissanayaka, police have been able to uncover.
A certain retired Army Sergeant aged 51 years from Aluvihara, Matale had telephoned the number stated in one of her advertisements inserted in a weekend newspaper by the suspect in search of pen friends. As time passed by he had developed a strong bond of friendship with her. As such the two of them had arranged for a specific time to confront each other at a location in Anuradhapura on the 1st of this month. It was the suspect herself who had suggested this rendezvous with the words "Let's meet and talk". On meeting the elderly person within city limits she had in fact addressed him with adorable words saying "Aiyo ... you are younger than I thought!". After the two had fallen into a conversation she had given a hint to the effect that she is in favour of having an illicit affair with him. Thus the retired sergeant had made an invitation to rent out a room and go ahead with the next step of this illicit connection and on that occasion she had not rejected his suggestion but had told him to give her the money expended on the hotel later saying "There's nobody in our house ... so let's go there and enjoy".
Subsequently he had consented to her request and the couple had then headed towards her home in Rajanganaya. Initially on reaching the house she had told him to have a bath, pointing at a well. After the bath and was moving towards the house what he happened to see was his paramour in the company of another male. When he inquired as to who it was, the female's husband had come forward in a threatening manner and said "This is my woman". He had added "Don't you have any shame to creep into houses looking for women for these activities ... get out immediately ... if not I'll blast your reputation. I'll hand you over to the police!" So saying the couple had got together and reprimanded him and chased him away from the house after assaulting him too, in the process looting his jewellery and cash. The clothes which he had changed inside the house had been kept back by the couple and had chased him under such conditions. The retired sergeant who had gone for a bath had at this time been dressed with only a towel round his waist.
After the victim who was thus chased away by his pen pal and her husband had then run to a neighbouring house at which moment the people in that house had thrown a fit and had yelled out. As a result of their yelling the people in the neighbourhood had got hold of the retired sergeant and handed him over to the police. He had ultimately explained the whole incident and had thus made his statement to the police. As such the suspect and her husband were taken into custody by Rajangana Police and was produced before Thambuththegama Magistrate's Court. The police were able to uncover the fact that for a period of time this couple had been engaged in this racket of making an earning.
