Does dashing coconuts bring results? Is there any meaning?
Dashing coconuts in Sri Lanka for good and bad is a very popular phenomenon. Even within the field of Politics dashing coconuts has become a popular thing. Some individuals dash coconuts to bring victory to those whom they favour, to bring defeat upon whom they dislike, to bring punishment on enemies, to appease their desires, to win a legal case and to
teach a lesson to someone who has left you in the lurch and to bring back a person who has deserted you.
In this way ... By dashing coconuts ... does one succeed in achieving positive results just the way it is expected? Whether there is a meaning in it is another question. But there are instances where positive results are seen. But in most instances it turns out to be a failure. Why does it happen so? The answer to it is explained by Astrologer and Occult Scientist Kulupana Bandara.
"Let's see how coconuts are dashed correctly according to the system of Malayalee manthras. The two most suitable days for dashing coconuts is Tuesday and Friday. There is a difference in the method in which coconuts are dashed for good things and for bad things. Good things mean ... for matters like getting through exams, to achieve victory, to secure employment and to achieve peace in the family. Bad things mean ... to bring punishment upon enemies, to create discord, to bring separation, and to create defeat. It is in front of gods like Vishnu, Patthini, Kataragama, Saman, Vibhishana and Eeshwara that coconuts are dashed for good purposes. On the contrary, it is in the presence of gods like Kali, Durga, Kadawara, Sooniyan and Devol that coconuts are dashed for bad purposes.
When dashing coconuts ... the coconut slipping from the hand is not the correct method of dashing a coconut. When the coconut loses the grip and flies away from the hand ... the energy of attraction between the coconut and the body is lost. The proper method is to dash it while retaining it in the hand. There is also another thing that has to be kept in mind. For good things the coconut has to be dashed from the right hand and for bad things it has to be dashed from the left hand.
When dashing coconuts for benevolent deeds it should be washed with saffron water without removing its husk (mudda). A mustard oil lamp should be lit from the North East direction from the place where the coconut is dashed. A chip of camphor should be kept on top of the coconut and lit and then after forwarding your plea to the gods the coconut should be dashed from the right hand asking that your request be granted. Before dashing the coconut a basket containing five types of fruit should be offered to the gods.
On the other hand ... when dashing coconuts for a bad cause, the husk should be removed. Dashing coconuts in the presence of goddesses such as Durga Devi, Sohon Kali, Gini Kali, Yama Kali and Le Kali is supposed to be more successful. For this purpose it is far better to make use of the Kuja Horawa (hour belonging to Mars). In this instance a basket of raw fruits should be given as an offering. Raw ambarella, raw nelli, raw pineapple, raw mango and raw tangerine are suited for this purpose. In addition, three lime fruits should be taken and and after cutting them in two, five parts should be taken and after turning them upside down, oil should be poured into them and they should be lit with wicks made from cotton. A necklace made from seven fruits of lime should be placed before the gods. The letters of the name of the enemy should be conjoined in a way that it could be divided by two and it should be written on top of the coconut with blood of a fowl.
In this instance there is a secret that should not be divulged. The three 'eyes' of the coconut have to be darkened with a special type of combination of herbs. For this purpose the said herbal preparation should be charmed through the Kali sthotra and a teaspoon of it has to be poured into a lamp of margosa oil and the three 'eyes' held over its flame until it becomes black.
