Majority of preferences of doctors for admitting children ... to Sirimavo and Mahanama

Further information relating to the request made by members of the Government Medical Officers' Association protesting to provide the opportunity of granting good schools for their children had spent the night out in a building in the Ministry of
Education recently. This had been made made public by the 'Anti Corruption Movement' by now.

According to certain doctors who are given transfers from Homagama to Maharagama and also in instances where transfers are effected from the Children's Hospital to National Hospital, requests have been made for their children to be admitted to main schools in Colombo. In the same way, in cases where some doctors are transferred to Wathupitiwala Hospital from Welimada, popular schools in Colombo have been requested for by them. The opinion of the Anti Corruption Movement however is that the argument of the doctors that the disadvantage they face because of their frequent transfers without a stabilized address their children are devoid of schools which then is not a justified one.

The majority of schools requested by them are as follows. (Over 5):
Sirimavo -- 14 children
Mahanama -- 11 children
Malyadeva --  10 girls
Maliyadeva -- 09 boys
D.S. -- 09 children
Nalanda -- 08 children
Visakha -- 08
Royal -- 07 children
Thurstan -- 07 children
Ananda -- 07 children
Mahamaya -- 07
Anula -- 06 children
Girls High School, Kandy -- 06
