Helmets without the SLS certificate banned from today

The authorities of the Police has announced that only helmets with the SLS certificate are allowed to be worn from today the 1st instant.Those who ride motor cycles wearing helmets

without SLS certificates are to be fined and punished.

This law has been enforced to  prevent the injuries and deaths caused by motor cyclists after they meet with accidents.This has been revealed by the Chairman of the consumer service authority Hasitha Tillekeratne.

This is owing to the large number of deaths of 07 to 08 per day caused by motor cyclists  not wearing the helmets with SLS certificate.

The related gazette notification had been released over a year ago but it would be strictly implemented from today. In this context even the selling of helmets without the SLS certificate is a punishable offence from today.
