People clamour in protest against the failure of the government to reconstruct houses and shops in Salawa town

During the fire and blast that occurred in the Salawa army camp recently several houses and shops around the town area were destroyed. Although the government had said that all houses and shops damaged were
repaired still there are a lot of houses and shops unattended.

The people of the Salawa area has made demonstrations shouting slogans for the authorities to take action. They have added that the businessmen who earned sum thousands of income before the fire and blast at the Salawa army camp have been severely affected. The government has only given them a once and for all payment of rupees fifty thousand only.

Because of this clamour there has been a severe traffic congestion along the Avissawela-Colombo main road on the High level road close to the Salawa army camp.
