Entire family in Nochchiyagama ordain and joins Buddha Sasana

A rare instance of a millionaire businessman who possessed paddy fields and lands in Nochchiyagama having relinquished all that and embracing Buddhism in the strictess sense together with all members of his family yesterday was reported from

close to Ruwanveliseya.

It was Kokunnewe, Nochchiyagama K.D. Nimal (44), his wife Ashoka Geethani (40) and daughter Shashikala Sanjeewani (15) who were ordained in this manner yesterday. Their 9 year old younger son too had been ordained about an year and a half ago and is residing in an Aranya Senasanaya in Pulmude area at present. Members of this family had been visiting the youner sin's welfare from time to time and the religious and the fervour that developed on those visits finally had resulted in arriving at this decision, it is understood.

There is another elder daughter in their family and she is married and is living separately. Before Mr. Nimal was ordained, he had transferred all his properties and assets in her name. The three of the above-said members have been ordained under the names Kokunnewe Nimalaratna Thero and the other two as Kokunnewe Dhamma Ashoka and Kokunnewe Dhammajeewani Dasasil Maathawas.
