Request by Fonseka for visa to go to America rejected

Having applied for a visa on the necessity of going to America to visit the daughter living in the States it was rejected for Minister Field Marshal Mr. Sarath Fonseka as informed him by the United

States Embassy situated in Colombo.

When inquiring reasons for this rejection, the embassy had informed him that his name had been blacklisted. His name has been blacklisted in this manner for Mr. Sarath Fonseka who had travelled to the States devoid of any problem before this for the reason being stated as that he had directly provided leadership to direct war activities against North East LTTE Organisation with war crimes allegations.

After the war came to a close in the year 2009 Mr. Fonseka who travelled to America was subjected to interrogation by authorities of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and it was after that this blacklisting has come into force. Whatever it is, the former Secretary of Defense Mr. Gotabhaya Rajapaksa while being a citizen of America had even a few months previously toured the States after the war was over without being faced with any problems as such.
