Pet Scanner Fund of National Cancer Institute

Pet Scanner Fund of National Cancer Institute

Dr. M.S.H. Mohommad the Chairman of Kadija Foundation who was the pioneer in establishing a Fund for the purpose of purchasing a pet scanner machine which incidentally was a dire necessity
for the Maharagama Cancer Institute right throughout the past has made a surprising statement about the manner in which others had helped and supported in boosting his Fund.

This Fund which by now has topped up and strengthened itself to the extent of scaling over Rs. 200 million and he says that some individual would come forward every 10 seconds with a cash donation and had developed in a great active measure. He states that two and a half years ago he had treated his son who was affected by cancer and had so treated him by selling lands and that when he visited the Maharagama Cancer Institute about an year back he had noticed this shortcoming and that he had pioneered establishing the Fund and that subsequently Manusath Derana of Derana Network taking prominence together with other medias have dedicated and contributed towards its growth. He also stated that he spends about one and a half lakhs to obtain medical reports of his son from outside hospitals and because he realised that meeting such an expenditure by the common man was not something that could be done he had started this particular Fund.

"We say that we got disgusted of samsara. Actually I enjoyed a luxury life. Vehicles ... houses and buildings ... all these I felt as just bunkum. Actually they are false. I saw the truth of life when I stepped into the Cancer Institute. At the time I started this Fund I was not shunned saying that I was a Muslim. I witnessed relaxation in this procedure. Got the highest response. I didn't believe that the hearts of Sri Lankans were so loving to this extent", he appreciates.

Not only the Pet Scanner but there is no MRI Scan at the Maharagama Cancer Institute and even the Ultra Sound Monitoring Unit is 18 years old., he stated. When questioned about the condition of his son suffering from cancer what he had said was that his son is still under treatment and that his treatment is still not over.
