Pet Scanner Fund of National Cancer Institute -- Update
The Pet Scanner machine which had been a necessity for the Maharagama Cancer Institute has drawn to a close with public funds and procedures to secure it is taking place these days. This Fund which was launched with a target of 20 crores has collected 23.3 crores and various
stories are circulating from a few days about the individual who has contributed the biggest donation. After it had been incorrectly publicised in the social media that this individual is Mahela Jayawardena what Mahela announced last afternoon across Twitter was that he is not that person. (Whatever it is, some donation has been made by Mahela and which has not been divulged).
According to reports reaching us it is one Mr. Thusith Muthumala who has contributed the biggest donation of Rs. three and a half crores. He is the son of distinguished businessman Sunil Muthumala. Sunil Muthumala happens to be the person who takes pride in being the proprietor who heads the list of importers of grapes, apples, oranges under the name and establishment Sunil Traders as well as the owner of Leisure World Entertainment Zone in Hanwella.
Mr. Muthumala who participated at a meeting recently explained that he enjoyed an immense happiness in doing something like this for the public and the commercial trading community of Pettah and his customers for the efforts exercised in boosting this Fund all of whom were at the background in this task.
