Nine prostitutes caught at a Thai Spa raided at Talawatugoda

A brothel which had been run a  Ayurvedic health centre in Talawatugoda had been raided and nine prostitutes had been arrested. The brothel had been run on the upstairs of a two storeyed building under the pretext of a SPA.

The raid had been made b the officials of the

Panadura Walana anti corruption unit,. At the time of the raid the nine prostitutes who were present and the manager of the SPA have been arrested.

The three Thai prostitutes were of the ages between 30 and 35 years who had come to Sri Lanka on tourist visas. The other Sri Lankan prostitutes were of the ages between 18 and 30 years and were from towns like Bandaragama ,Anuradhapura,Veyangoda,Anuradhapura, Ratnapura and Gampaha.

The raid had been carried put after a complaint had been made by a private radio channel. A warrant had been obtained by the Kaduwela Magistrate. A decoy had been sent with rupees eight thousand. When the decoy had entered into a room with a Thai prostitute the anti corruption unit officers who were hidden had arrested the Thai prostitute and others.

It had revealed that the prostitutes are sold for sums between Rs 5000/-Rs 10,000/- It is reported that rich businessman, persons from respectable families and politicians are those who patronize this SPA clinic.

Investigations in this regard are conducted under the Director of the Walana anti corruption prevention unit Hemal Prasanna and the officer in charge of the Walana Anti corruption unit Duminda Buddhika  Balasuriya.
