Conductor-lover tries to kill teacher - lover and himself

A lover supposed to be engaged as a conductor in Amparai area has cut and chopped and murdered his teacher-lover at an abandoned location, it is reported.

The root cause for this murder is the temper that had welled up within this conductor-lover because of having pushed her towards further advanced studies at his own expense and had brought her up to the status of a teacher and after which she had been ungrateful enough to desolate him by humiliating
his profession. He had taken her to an abandoned spot in Amparai Kondavatuwana in a three-wheeler saying that he wished to have a dialogue with her and had requested her to give up the affair that she had started with a school teacher, to which she had not given a positive reply. Subsequently, after an argument that flared up as a result he had stabbed her and killed her and he too had tried to drink poison and thus put an end to his life.

Though the teacher had died, the assailant had not. He is still under treatment in a serious condition. The teacher who had died in this manner is 31 year old Leela Hettiarachchi of Senagama area in Amparai. Her lover has been admitted to Amparai General Hospital. He in fact is from Hunnasgiriya area and had been going to work from a lodge where he had been staying in Amparai. After having murdered his lover, he had given a phone call to the driver of the bus in which he had been working after about one and a half hours and had told him, "I have drunk poison .... come with the police quickly". It was after that others came to hear about this incident.

The conductor had revealed that the victim had thrown her aside saying that he is only a conductor and had started a love affair with a teacher in the process thus becoming utterly ungrateful to him and that she had forgotten that he had tried effortlessly to earn money for a number of years for the sake of bringing her to a teacher-status. Hospital sources say that his condition is not serious. Amparai Police are conducting further enquiries.
