Water level in Kelani River has dropped
The index of the flood level of the Nagalagam Street of the Kelani River which had risen to a height of 7.6 feet during the last few days has achieved a record recession of 3.6 feet (risky: 4 feet) this morning by 8 o'clock, Disaster Management Centre says. In addition, the Hanwella index has recorded 5.46 meters (risky: 7 meters), Glencourse
index 37.6 feet (risky: 50 feet), the Holombuwa index 4.1 feet (risky: 10 feet), the Deraniyagala index 4.3 feet (risky: 16 feet), the Kitulgala index 0.89 meters (risky: 2 meters) and the Norwood index 0.95 meters (risky: 1.5 meters) has thus shown a decrease.
As such, most places have been free from the floods and there is hope of consolation that it would further recede. Whatever it is, though the floods have come to an end, as infections have enveloped in the locations and the houses in that locality, Health Sources say that it is a risk to resettle people who have become victims of the floods in those localities.
