Tilwin denies Divaina report regarding JVP Party crisis
What a certain news report published by today's Sunday Divaina Newspaper mentions is that the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna has
reached another leadership conflict. It is that, a section of the party is interested in making Lal Kantha or Tilwin Silva the next leader and for that reason the present leader Anura Kumara has toured Ireland thus leaving others to solve the conflict of the party and further that after he returned to the island he had even held a discussion with a group in Thalawatugoda regarding this topic.
The General Secretary of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna Mr. Tilwin Silva has mentioned that all information stated in the news is false. He says that in relation to the false article published by accusing the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna he would be making an enquiry with a view of taking legal action and that by now a team of attorney-at-law have been assigned for that purpose; further that he hopes to complain to the Sri Lanka Press Council and the Press Complaints Commission of Sri Lanka against the said newspaper.
It is mentioned in an article in the lanka truth website which is well-disposed towards the JVP that the MP Anura Kumara has recently revealed about a corruption in connection with former Minister of Transport, Kumara Welgama pertaining to the CTB and as a counter-attack against it the Divaina Newspaper belonging to the former Minister's brother Nimal Welgama whereby a creative story has been fabricated in this manner and has subsequently had it published. The article which gave rise to that conflict of opinion, from below
A change in leadership of J.V.P .... next leader Tilwin or Lal Kantha?
Janitha Seneviratna
Another rift has taken place in respect of the leadership of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna. A disapproval has emerged against Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayaka the present leader, by some elements of the political group in relation to the role he carries out. Several accusations have been aimed at Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayaka by those segments and it is their opinion that a change in the party leadership should immediately undergo a change.
In this connection, the name of Lal Kantha, a trade union leader and the name of Tilwin Silva the General Secretary has been nominated for the new leadership. According to internal sources of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayaka has made a sudden tour to Ireland, also leaving room for other members of the party to resolve this conflict. Mr. Anura Kumara Dissanayaka who returned to Sri Lanka for May Day has discussed about this topic at length with two other MPs and three others over dinner at a well-known hotel, it is understood. Whatever it is, it is said that the political stability of the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna is oscillating towards various sides.
