Divaina report regarding JVP leader -- Update 2
There was a commotion against the Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna over two articles published last Sunday Divaina newspaper with mud being slung in the process while the Divaina reporter who admitted today as having written these articles further was prepared to admit that he accepts the responsibility of having written them
and had even resigned from the newspaper, it is reported.
That a conflict has arisen over the party leadership of Anura Dissanayaka of Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna and that Lal Kantha together with Tilwin had got together with the hope of attaining leadership was published in the Sunday Divaina under the name 'Janitha Seneviratna'. The artticle published in an inner page in the newspaper as a mud-slinging article titled "a red leader who made a tour in Ireland because of an illicit connection' was published under the name 'special reporter'.
The JVP who held a news briefing last Sunday expressed that there is no disorder about JVP leadership and that the second article could be an article of mud-slinging, purposely prepared with that very intention. Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna who said that the said article and the special news item have been prepared on requirements of the Rajapaksa family had taken steps to even complain to the Press Complaints Commission. As a consequence of this, a strong criticism emerged in the country about Divaina newspaper and a rumour spread around that the Chief Editor apologised to the JVP in this respect.
When circumstances were such, the Divaina reporter Manoj Abeydeera had admitted that the two news items were written by him and that he is prepared to undertake their responsibility and so saying he has handed over his letter of resignation and left the office.
