"Army Sampath" cordoned by police in Slave Island

It is reported that a prominent political supporter  and underworld criminal "Army Sampath" who had been absconding for some time had been followed by the special police task police had

 apprehended on the 14th instant in the Slave Island area.

It is learned that " Army Sampath"who had been behind the shooting of  Dematogoda Chaminda and several other shootings and murders like that of the Bloemendhal shooting during the past election period.He had been responsible for many other shootings.The latest was on the 02nd March with the shooting of Dematagoda Chaminda.In this regard the police had been wanting him to record statements.

During the general election campaign a supporter of Ravi Karunanayake had succumbed to gum shot injuries while "Army Chaminda" too sustained injuries during the shoot out.

At the time of his arrest the STF had recovered a pistol which was in the possession of " Army Chaminda".
