Who are the Chiefs responsible for the 110KG heroin racket?
A huge drug racket has been surfaced centering Sri Lanka as a base.Ah ship of Iran had been transporting the stock of 110 KG heroin.The value of this stock of heroin has been estimated at Rs 11,000 lakhs as informed by the police media spokesman attorney at law,assistant superintendent of
police Ruwan Gunasekera.
Among those arrested from the Iranian ship had been 10 Iranian nationals, 2 Pakistani nationals one Indian and one Singaporean national.The ship had been caught 50 mules off the Galle sea by the Navy personnel with the help of the police and the officers of the police narcotics bureau. The incident had taken place in the early hours of day before yesterday.
The ship had originated from Iran.The Navy had intercepted a boat that had reached the ship to unload the heroin cargo.It has been found that a group of foreign nationals has been based in a room in Negombo hotel using satellite equipment communicating with the ship.The operations have been conducted by those foreigners staying in the hotel.
There had been two foreigners in a luxury Montero jeep to accept the parcel of heroin who had fled after they were shot at.The information has been revealed by the police media spokesman ASP, attorney at law Ruwan Gunasekera.However the luxury Montero Jeep had been stopped along the Katunayake Express highway near the Pamunugama exit close to Ja ela.
The police had arrested a Singaporean and a Irani national who were in the Montero jeep and another Pakistan national who was in the Negombo hotel.
It has been revealed that the Officer in charge of the Nawagamuwa police station, Inspector of Police Manjula Silva had received a tip off, through which this operation with the police narcotics bureau and the Navy had been successfully conducted.
There are in addition Sri Lankan counterparts who are involved in this huge racket.In the coming days the police intend to arrest them.
The investigations will be conducted by the IGP NK Illangakoon,acting IGP MS Wickremasinghe,the Director of the police narcotics bureau Superintendent of Police attorney at law Kamal Silva Assistant Superintendent of Police Jagath Rohana, SI Rangajeewa and others.
