Ganja racket surfaced from the cardiology unit of the Colombo General Hospital
It has been surfaced and revealed that a Kerala Ganja business had been in operation for some time carried on by minor employees of the cardiology unit of the Colombo National
Hospital within the premises of the cardiology unit of the hospital.
The police had raided the cardiology unit of the Colombo National Hospital on a tip off and had fond 500 grams of Kerala Ganja from the rest room of the minor employees of the unit.The police had raided the rest room on the night of the 30th ultimo.The master brain behond this operation ,a minor staff member had been taken into custody.
The suspect is a resident of Dematagoda who had been arrested once before for carrying the ganja business outside the hospital premises.Once he was released he had commenced the business again from the the premises of the cardiology unit as it is a safer place.
It is reported that the suspect conducts the business after 6.30 pm after his duty hours at the rest room of the minor employees on the ground floor of the cardiology unit.He is used to packet them from this rest room.As the smell of the ganja leaves are emanated he had been lighting jaustics to counteract the smell.
It is also reported that the packet-ed ganja are transported via the three wheeler 's that come into the hospital premises bringing in patients and visitors.
The raid had been conducted under the instructions of the Deputy Inspector General of Colombo region Gamini Maturata.He had deployed a decoy to buy a packet of ganja by tendering rupees five hundred.Subsequently the suspect had been arrested with 500 grams of Kerala ganja.Further investigations are been conducted to arrest the other suspects.The main suspect is been questioned and the other suspects are to be arrested shortly.
