India beats Sri Lanka in the T 20 Asia cup fixture by 5 wickets
India beat Sri Lanka in the T 20 Asia cup fixture played today at the Shere Bangla National
stadium in Mirpur, Banglagesh.
India having won the toss had elected to bowl first. Owing to a very poor start Sri lanka were able to amass only 138 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 20 overs. Only Charmara Kapugedera 30 runs and Milinda Siriwardena 22 added useful runs.
India in reply lost both openers for 16 runs,both wickets were taken by Nuwan Kulasekera.But a defiant inning of 56 unbeaten runs made by Virat Kohli in 47 balls with 7 fours enabled India to reach the target with only four balls to spare with five wickets in hand .Virat Kohli was named "man of the match".Suresh Raina and Yovraj Singh scored 25 and 35 runs in 25 and 18 balls respectively.Yovraj Singh inning comprised of 3 fours and 3 sixes.
By virtue of this win India is through to the final of the Asia Cup 2016...while Sri Lanka has been deprived of a place in the final.
