Step motherly treatment meted out to media personnel at Independence celebrations
The media personnel who were present at Galle Face to cover the proceedings at the 68th Independence celebrations have added that they were meted out with step motherly treatment and had confessed their displeasure.
It is reported that the media personnel were allocated a small hut adjoining to the main pavilions. As certain unauthorised had occupied by sitting on the front seats they had been prevented them from viewing what was happening at the main stage. Hence they had peen handicapped in reporting the real proceedings.
The failure to telecast the proceedings on a big screen had prevented them from reporting the proceedings in a proper manner.
The media personnel had left from the premises of the news department at Narahenpita at around 5 a.m had confessed that they had to report been in a separate world. They had not been able to report on who and who attended the celebrations.
