Sivarasa who had attempted to assassinate Maithri in Polonnaruwa given pardon
It is reported that a person who had attempted to assassinate Maithripala Sirisena in and other places who was fined rupees ten thousand and imprisoned
for ten years is to be given a pardon by President Maithripala Sirisena himself.
In this regard the senior Attorney at Law UR de Silva who is appearing for Sivarasa Jeganathan at the appeal courts had revealed this.
There had been cases against Sivarasa Jeganathan in the Colombo High courts from 1st May 2005 to 23rd April 2006.
For the charges filed Sivaarsa Jeganathan had been proved guilty. For his sentence and the fine he had filed a case in the appeal courts.
The case was heard yesterday at the appeal courts in the presence the appeal courts Judges Vijith Malalgoda and Devika de Livera..At that time the Attorney at Law appearing for the suspect had said that the President has quipped that a pardon would be given to him as such they are withdrawing the appeal submitted.
The representative for the Attorney General the assistant Solicitor General AHM Navavi had added that in that case he too has no objection.
