Proved that Dematagoda youth was taken to Hirunika
Hirunika released on bail -- 1.30 p.m.
MP Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra after having been taken into custody over the allegation that a youth from Dematagoda was abducted, she was produced before Magistrate of No. 2 Courts, Aluthkade and was later released on two personal bonds of Rs. one lakh each. The case is to be heard next 12th.
According to statements produced by Hirunika's Security, it was revealed that after the Dematagoda youth was abducted he had been brought to Hirunika and was advised. Under these circumstances she was arrested on the Attorney-General's instructions.

MP Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra who was accused recently in connection with the abduction of a youth was taken into custody by the police this morning (9).
Though an incident of a group of Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra's Security had barged into a business-place in Dematagoda area and had thus abducted a youth working there were taken into custody, the fact that the delay that Hirunika was not arrested in that connection in time created some criticism in the media to the effect that it was because of a political 'hand' being involved in the matter. Under these circumstances the Attorney-General had taken steps to issue orders to the Colombo Crime Division to arrest Mrs. Hirunika Premachandra and she was thus taken into custody by officers of the Colombo Crime Division this morning when she was at a house down Havelock Place supposed to be belonging to her.
