at Peacock Mansion pool

Sri Lankan Ambassador for Nigeria during the Mahinda period, Mr. A.S.P. Liyanage, leader of the Labour Party yesterday summoned a media
conference and made a request saying that the heap of sand at the pool of Peacock Mansion has become a problem in his life and that it has caused a terrible pressure on him and therefore to check this heap of sand and to release him. He had called the media in this manner to request the Inspector General of Police to order a search by removing the sand to see whether there is any gold. The basis for him to make this appeal was that a certain news item published by a reporter in a weekend newspaper mentioned such an idea.

This media discussion was held at Peacock Mansion itself belonging to him. "A particular media had given a wrong impression about the heap of sand filled in the swimming pool in our house by publicising that gold belonging to former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa is being hidden there. As far as I am aware no such thing had taken place. But to dispel this notion, I need the support of the police. I have complained about this to the Inspector General of Police. So far I have received no response about it. It was I who took steps to fill sand in the swimming pool under the instructions of astrologers. As such Peacock Mansion has received some form of cosmic power. I am waiting till the police check the heap of sand in the swimming pool. After that examination I will close the pool as before. In view of my future welfare I do not have any hopes of filling the swimming pool with water. I appeal to the President and the Inspector General of Police to release me from the existing situation and conduct an enquiry as soon as possible in this connection", he had said.
