Veteran actors and actresses of yesteryear are of the view that as they are aging and old there is nobody to care for them .They are of the opinion and belief that although many have
derived joy and satisfaction by viewing the roles they had portrayed, they appear to completely ignore them at the time they need  attention in their twilight years.

A group of these veteran artistes had got together and made a plea to the gods in Kataragama seeking redress for the plight they are in. In this connection this group  of old actors and actresses had attended a pooja on the 17th instant at the Kataragama devale in anticipation of receiving attention .

This group had  come together in a  'kavadi' dance procession  from Kataragama town to the Kataragama devale and  offered their pooja. Subsequently they had met the Judiciary Sanga Nayake of Ruhunu magam paththuwa,  Shrasthradipathi most Venerable Kapugama Saranatissa thera to convey that as veteran artistes they are not cared by anyone.Those who attended were the Kopi Kade actress Rathna Sumanapala, singer W.Premaratna,actresses Manel Chandralatha,Kumari Dissanayake,Preethi Wijesekera,Saman Ratnayake Hettiarachchi,Kalyani Perera,Rupa Gomes and a number of other artistes.
