The MP Sanath Nishantha Perera who hurled bomb at Police allowed bail 

The Member of Parliament for the Puttalam district Sanath Nishantha Perera who had hurled a bomb at the police  during the past presidential  election was remanded on the 15th instant.He has been allowed bail by courts on the 16th instant.

He had been allowed bail by the Chilaw Magistrate and additional district judge Heshantha de Mel.His had been requested to furnish Rs 25,000/- cash and two body bails of Rs 250,000/ each before allowing the bail application made. The two body bails furnished had to be certified by the related Gram Niladari of the areas.

It was said to furnish these statistics to the investigation judiciary. The Chilaw Magistrate and additional district Judge Heshantha de Mel had advised in the event the member of Parliament Sanath Nishantha Perera was to travel abroad he would have to obtain permission from courts.

In this case the complaint had been entertained under section 300 of the penal code act.The incident had taken place in the year 1999 and the intention had been to commit a crime by homicide had been found when the notes pertaining to the case was read by  the Magistrate and  district judge of Chilaw Magistrate courts.

He had also stated that the complaint had been made under the dangerous weapons act and under it a suspect could be given bail, the Magistrate and Additional District Judge had added.
