Saman, the brother of Dunesh alias Kondaya who made a confession related to the murder of Seya Sandewmi as something that Kondaya had actually committed and which the police had recently quoted across the media was publicised as something based on information Saman had given to the police, the police now say. In the same way the police now say that Kondaya alone had not been involved in this case of abuse and murder and the crime may have been done in unison.

The police now suspect that he had made his brother the scapegoat and had wanted to safeguard himself. Therefore, as another suspect in this connection Kondaya's brother was taken into custody by the police on the 3rd and interrogation is being carried out. Whether the main suspect in this murder is Kondaya or his brother Saman or both of them could be confirmed by the results of the DNA results, police say. The police also added that if the DNA report is received by courts today, it would be revealed.

Kondaya who was arrested in connection with this killing has on a number of occasions made various statements, it is stated. He had admitted that he committed this crime and later had told his brother about it and had once more mentioned that he is not involved in this killing; that the true murderer is his brother and that he has now freed himself from guilt by putting the burden on him. Whatever it is, the truth of the contradictory statements made by Kondaya have still not been revealed.

Before Kondaya was arrested his brother Saman was taken into custody by the police and after being questioned he was sent away. Information say that the suspect was suddenly taken into custody day-before-yesterday (4) in connection with this murder in relation to Saman.

It has been revealed that Kondaya's brother too suffers from a lust for women as well as towards distorted sexual activities as well. He was someone who had been in prison for a period close upon 6 years in connection with numerous crimes. It has come to be known that the brother and Kondaya both were residents of Bemmulla and that they had come to their sister's house on and off frequently. Kondaya's brother is 36 years of age and the woman to whom he was married to earlier is now overseas. The other woman whom he married after that has deserted him and is living alone, it was revealed. The police were able to secure information that a daughter from his second marriage has by now entered into marriage while the younger child is living with the wife separately. At the time he was taken into custody by the police, it was revealed that he had been working at a brick kiln in Lihiniyagama.

The suspect brother who is in the custody of the police is expected to be directed to courts after a DNA examination today (5). It would take a few days to get this report. Further inquiries are underway in this regard.
