Mahinda summoned to the Presidential commission
In connection with the loss incurred to the government owned Independent Television Network by a sum of rupees 1150 lakhs for advertisements telecast during the last presidential election, former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has been summoned today to the Presidential Commission of Inquiry to
investigate and inquire into serious acts of fraud and corruption, abuse of power, state resources and privilege (PRECIFAC).In this connection to obtain a statement Mahinda Rajapaksa has been summoned to the Presidential commission.
In this connection the former Minister of Mass media Keheliya Rambukwella, Chairman of Independent Television Network Anura Siriwardena .General Manager of the then ITN,Aruna Moorthy Wickremasinghe,Deputy General Manager,Upali Ranjith,Assistant General Manager, Dilip Wickremasinge lave been also summoned to the Presidential commission to take statements.
It is stated the non payment of the rupees 1150 lakhs due to the ITN on account of advertisements telecast for the presidential candidature of Mahinda Rajapaksa is to be ascertained by the Presidential commission.
It is reported that after today when the statements are recorded the commission will question evidences would be recorded from several individuals in the next four days.
