Former President Mahinda Rajapaksa was present at the Colombo Bandaranaike International Memorial Hall premises this afternoon with a large number of his supporters and a group of attorneys-at-law. It was because in response to having been summoned to explain matters regarding the fraud related to Rs. 10 crores due to the advertisement publicity of
Independent Networks. Prior to this, officers of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry into Serious Acts of Fraud, Corruption and Abuse of Power had obtained a statement in connection with this allegation by visiting his home and today he was summoned to secure information once more from all parties, as the final phase of this inquiry.

Whatever it is, what attorneys-at-Law of of the former President pointed out was that the constitution of Serious Acts of Fraud Commission is in flaw and therefore this inquiry cannot be permitted. After arguments that ensued, the Commission which said that it is necessary that matters should be inquired into and as a consequence the inquiry was postponed for tomorrow. The large number who accompanied President Mahinda Rajapaksa who carried posters in their hands said in an tensed mood that this Commission is illegal and that what is carried out in these circumstances is revenge. In the process it was expressed across former President Mr. Mahinda Rajapaksa's media unit that it is understood that what is being done is an attempt to gain political benefits through this process of summoning the former President.
