Former Member of Parliament and the Chakravarty of Archaeology Venerable Ellawela Medananda thera had been stranded in a forest in a area close to Galgamuwa close to ten hours.After he was able
to locate the way he had come to a newspaper institution and related his story.

Around 9 O' clock one morning he had visited a Buddhist temple between Nanelia and Inginimitiya areas named Thorawa Mihilewa Buddhist temple.The head monk of this Buddhist temple had telephoned and told him that there is cave about 1 1/2 kilometres from the temple where about 500 people could be accommodated inside. He was very interested this cave having enormous archaeology value.

He had left to this cave along with the head monk of the temple his driver and two others.After they had walked the head monk had lost track of the correct road to he cave.They had got stranded between the Mihilewa temple and the cave and had been searching for the correct path to the cave.To find they had gone into the forest. The group had not carried any food or even water. They had been aimlessly loitering in an area with Eraminiya thorny plants where wild elephants also had roamed.

As a last resort Ven Ellawela Medananda thera had resorted for help from the mobile telephone of his driver by calling the DIG of North Central and Wyamba province through which source they had been able to come out after nearly 10 hours been stranded in a thick jungle
