Bandula asks for pardon ....

having tried to add Tamil name to Ravi Karunanayaka!

A confused situation has arisen in parliament yesterday because Opposition MP Bandula Gunawardena had attached
a Tamil name to the Minister of Finance, Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka.

What Bandula initially said was that Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka's correct name was Ravindra Sandesh Ganeshan. On that occasion parliament MP Mr. Lakshman Kiriella expressed his strong protest on the matter; however, Bandula Gunawardena in that instance responded saying that there is nothing wrong with the name he mentioned, that it is a name that has been registered in the Hansard Report too and went on to challenge that the Hansard Report be brought and be inquired into.

Later when the Hansard Report was examined, Bandula had understood that he had attached MP Ganeshan's name with the name Ravi and had subsequently announced Mr. Ravi Karunanayaka's name in the presence of the parliament and Mr. Bandula Gunawardena had also tendered his apologies only to the MP Ganeshan in this respect.
