An Ambulance falls into a drain after knocking on to a small lorry

An ambulance had been taking three patients from Medawachchiya hospital to the Anuradhapura teaching hospital had knocked on to a small lorry travelling from Anuradhapura towards
Rambewa.This mishap had resulted in the ambulance been tilted into a drain when in all six passengers inside had been hurt and reported to have been hospitalised  for treatment this afternoon.

This mishap had taken place in Anuradhapura, Puliyankulama paddy field area. The driver, his assistant, attendant and the three patients all had been injured and admitted to Rambewa rural hospital for treatment. The ambulance had belonged to the Rambewa rural hospital which had transported some patients to Medawachchiya hospital and on the return had brought three bad patients to the Anuradhapura teaching hospital for treatment when the mishap had taken place.

What had happened was a small lorry had been speeding to overtake a motor cyclist and had been on a wrong side when the ambulance was approaching which had caused this accident. The small lorry had struck the right hand side of the ambulance causing it to be thrown into a nearby drain.
