Two UPFA candidates who lost made Ministers



Two former Ministers who could not win seats elected from the national list sworn in as Ministers

During the recently concluded general election two former ministers in the previous government who contest and could not win to be members of parliament were nominated from the national list and were allowed to enter the parliament.

Not only they were given seats from the national list but also were very fortunate to be sworn in as Ministers.

One is SB Dissanayake who lost from the Kandy district who was sworn in as the Minister of Social empowerment and welfare .The other fortunate former minister is Mahinda Samarasinghe who contested from the Kalutara district who lost and was sworn in as the minister of skills development and vocational training.

In addition the former minister Thilanga Sumathpala who lost while contesting from Colombo district under UPFA was appointed to the prestigious deputy speaker position and was sworn in.
