It was a twist of fate that yesterday in fact happened to be her 21st birthday on which the day marked the end of her life too. The last time she had called her mother over the phone she had said that she would be going to attend a funeral in Nikaweratiya. Isuri was a resident of Handapanagala Pubuduwewa area in Wellawaya. Isuri who took mother's permission in that manner was never to return.

D.M. Isuri Dissanayaka had her initial schooling at Handapanagala Vidyalaya. Her elder sister is preparing for her external degree while her younger sister is still schooling in grade 11 of the same school. The father is employed at Pelawatta Sugar Factory and it is said that it was Isuri who looked after the educational affairs of her sisters.

Isuri who joined the police service an year before this was serving with the President Security Division as a Woman Police Constable until her last moment. It is understood that her biggest motive was to find a job for the elder sister and to give her younger sister a good schooling and subsequently pave the way for her to enter the police service. However Isuri went on her last journey yesterday .... blotting out everybody's hopes forever.
