For depriving the MP's post from the national list Tissa Vithana files action



The MP's position held in Parliament  via the national list  for a long time denied to Prof.Tissa Vitharana 

-- resorts to legal action


Professor Tissa Vitharana had been a Member of the national list in the Parliament for a long period of time.This time he has been deprived of this opportunity. Hence in this connection he is resorting to legal action.

This has occurred as two Members of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance, VIZ Mahinda Samarasinghe and SB.Dissanayake who lost their seats and could not secure seats in the new parliament have been nominated from the provisions in the national list of the UPFA.

The case has been filed by professor Tissa Vitharana to make null and void the appointments made by the UPFA from the national list  which were  accepted by the elections commissioner and gazetted.He in his case has called the gazette notification to be cancelled.

Professor Tissa Vitharana has filed against a human rights violation in the Supreme court yesterday  the 21st.In this regard this petition is to be taken for consideration and hearing on the 23rd instant.

It is learnt that the former Member of Parliament. Communist Party's General Secretary DEW.Gunasekara has also filed action against the action of the elections commissioner  approving the list sent by the UPFA This petition is also to be heard on the 23rd.
