As Sri Pada belongs to two provinces ....

     grade 5 students in quandary

One of the questions asked this time at the 5th scholarship examination was as to which province Sri Pada belongs. The students had mentioned Sabaragamuwa Province and Central Province as multiple answers while most students had given more answers to both these. Whatever it is, according to the

Survey Department the Sri Pada belongs to Sabaragamuwa Province; but according to the Google Map it belongs to the Central Province.

Because of this conflicting situation the Department of Examinations has had to mark both answers as correct in the case of these grade 5 students. Whatever it is, because a baffling situation has arisen over these two answers, only the Sabaragamuwa answer of students whose answers were checked have been marked as correct while those students whose answer papers were checked secondly have received correct marks for both. The Lanka Guru Sangamaya has requested the government not to use such unspecific questions in examinations in future.
