Wimal and wife summoned to FCID, but sent a request via a lawyer requesting for an alternate date
The officials of the Financial crimes
investigation unit had summoned the former Minister of the UPFA and the leader of the National Freedom Front leader and his wife to obtain a statement on the 12th or the 13th of this month.
Owing to a tight election propaganda campaign through a lawyer a letter has been sent to the FCID unit they are unable to attend but had requested for another day.
It is reported that they had been summoned to question on obtaining a VIP passport while possessing a normal passport and by producing contradicting documents.
