Sunil Handunnetti to Parliament from the National list

In the concluded general election the JVP won only four seats and they were offered two seats from the national list. In the Matara district the former parliamentarian and experienced former member of Parliament Sunil Handunnetti was deprived of a seat as had not secured the required amount of preferential votes.

Owing to special capabilities and experience in the parliament it had been discussed by many and suggested that he be given one of the National list positions allocated to him and the other National list position to the former government auditor general Sarath Mayadunne.

These details it is learnt have been forwarded to the elections commissioner.
