For the first time from the Galle district a woman member has been selected to the parliament from the Galle district. This woman member to the parliament is none other than Geetha Kumarasinghe.

After she was appointed she expressed her views to the media in this manner:

This is the very first time that a woman candidate who had won in an general election and has been appointed to the parliament. This is a very unique occasion.

Taking this as an example she requested the women in this country to make a complete sacrifice towards this cause.

She also had made a plea to all those who voted and did not vote to her would be made a supreme sacrifice to serve all of them. She also would expect the victorious persons would not do any harm to the opposing members in the other parties.
