PC member who tried a Selfie of how to vote ....

in custody!

An incident of an instance where the trend of Selfie which is common these days has reached
even the parliament elections was heard of last election day from Alawathugoda Kithulgolla Kanitu Vidyalaya in Ankumbura Police Division.

A PC Member who had come to cast his vote here had wanted to insert in his Facebook the manner in which he was voting and had gone near the cardboard enclosure after getting his ballot paper and having looked around, taken his mobile phone out and subsequently while marking his vote with the pencil in one hand had lifted the mobile phone with the other hand and clicked photographs. The first attempt had failed and therefore had clicked a second and third Selfie after which he had been behaving in an odd manner there, even by taking photos of his ballot paper as well.

Officers at the polling booth who had been eyeing this had summoned the police officers there and had asked them to take him into custody because taking photographs of the ballot paper was against the law. "I am the Provincial Council Member ... don't touch me", he had demanded. However the police officer had turned a deaf ear to him and got hold of him after which he was taken and handed to Ankumbura Police, it was reported. Further inquiries are underway.
