National government concept is a ploy to make Tamil party to lead the opposition - WIMAL

When former Member of parliament Wimal Weerawansa was coming out after furnishing his statement made
to the Financial crimes Investigation department to a journalist who had questioned him his had answered in this manner:

The strategy of the United national party is to make the Sri Lanka Freedom party the ‘tail’ of the Unite National party. This is depicted in the agenda of the United national party in order to make the government with a minority majority party to make it a majority government party with the Sri Lanka Freedom party.

For surrendering this huge tactical issue and the ploy we are not at all willing to give our consent. In the concluded election the United Peoples Freedom Alliance secured 95 seats. That too when the UNP based government used all powers and faculties available to defeat the UPFA only with a small majority.

In addition Wimal Weerawansa has admitted boldly that the UNP had used all media for their advantage at this election. With securing 95 seats in recent elections this is the strongest opposition any parliament is possessing for a long period of time. But the government to be formed has been unable to secure the required majority of 113 seats.

What the plans are to obtain a few seats form the UPFA and to make a majority government.

This is a huge injustice to the 47 lakhs of people who voted for the SLFP. What the real plan is to absorb the 16 seats of the Tamil based seated and to make Sambandan the leader of the opposition.

In the month of September the official report of the human rights commission is to be released. What will entail R Sambandan been seated in the opposition leader’s chair?.The Tamil national Alliance would get an opportunity to travel around the world during this time. We will not allow this tying up the UNP with the SLFP.This is a sheer surrender.

All those who do not accept to join with the national government concept will get together and would be in the opposition under the leadership of  Mahinda Rajapaksa.
