In Kuliyapitiya ,Vavuniya,Maligawatta and Katunayake election violations reported

In Kuliyapitiya, Vavuniya, Maligawatta and Katunayake election violations reported.

The Police have reported four cases where the election laws have been violated by this afternoon detected by the election
monitoring teams.

There are as follows:

1.    In the Kuliyapitiya police division area at around 7.40 a.m In the Mohakadawala Junior school polling booth are a United Peoples Freedom Alliance supported had been distributing to voters card boards with members of a candidate. He had been reported and arrested by the mobile election observers who had noticed this irregularity. The suspect is a resident of Anukkane area and has had in his position 434 such card board pieces with preferential number of a candidate. The suspect had been produced to the Kuliyapitiya magistrate who had ordered for him to be remanded until the 25th August 2015.

2.    In the Vavuniya Police division area at 0805 a.m a person in Mada Waiththiyskulum two supporters of the United Peoples Freedom party has been travelling on a motor bike had had been dropping a number of photos with numbers of two candidates to draw the attention of the prospective voters.These two suspects at the time they were detected by the election monitoring officers they have had in their possession 220 such cards with the photos and preferential numbers. They were found to be residents of Mannipuruppuwa and Vavuniya. They are to be produced before the Vavuniya magistrate today along with the motor cycle.

3.  In the Maligawatta police division two persons travelling in a three wheeler with a number of photos of a candidate of the United Peoples Freedom Alliance and the related preferential vote number were detected at 0820 by the election monitoring officers.There had been 810 such photos with numbers of the related candidate.They had been produced to court No 04 at the Aluthkade magistrate courts.  Both have been bailed out with two sureties each at a cost of rupees 05 lakhs each.

4.    In Katunayake at around 0830 a.m near the Hinatiyana Dhammaloka Maha Vidyalaya a person had come on a motor bike and had been caught by the election monitoring officers when he had been dropping the image and the number of a united national party candidate. He had been caught with 216 such photos and numbers of the candidate, He has been produced along with his motor bike to the Katunayake Magistrate courts.
