Former Chief Justice’s husband and son had contested the general election

The former Chief Justice Shirani Bandaranayake’s Shavin Bandaranayake had made a comment on Namal Rajapaksa’s Face Book for him to feel. Later there were talks that he would enter parliament if things change.

However he had without much fanfare has contested under Independent group no 09 to contest under the Colombo district Independent groups 15 where his friends and associates had helped. In this group a member is Shavin’s father former Chairman of the National Savings Bank Pradeep Kariyawasam.They are contesting under the symbol ‘torch’.
