It is reported that from Thabbowa area in Wanathavillua when a farmer was cleaning up an area for farming had come across a peculiar type well may be over hundreds of years old.
The most attractive feature that was seen that from the top to the bottom of this well there had been ring like support structures made out of clay which were found every 10- 12 inches all around the well from top to the bottom. Anyone could easily go the bottom of the well very easily using these like ring structures.
It is reported that this well has a tremendous archaeological value.It is also learnt that even during a even a severe drought season the water do not dry up in relation to all wells in the surrounding areas.
A significant feature is that the well gets sufficient water from springs and fountains from the deep areas of the well.
The well is close to Meeoya and there is proof that the village had consisted of a population involved in the pottery industry. From ancient literature it had revealed that during the King’s era there had been a population in this village involved in the clay pottery business and industry.
It is also reported that Thambapanniya where Kuweni had lived had been at a distance of about 30 Kilometres from this village.
